NBA Chat With Lang Greene 3/10/16

  1. Lo

Do you think realistically the Lakers are going to have a new coach next season? I personally don’t think Byron is a good coach, but the Lakers have momentum and people are starting to praise him for how the younger players are playing right now…. And who should they be targeting as their next coach if they do find a new one?
Also, can you please have more chats??
    • Lang Greene

What’s up Hoop Freaks? The season is wrapping up and we’re approaching the playoffs. Can’t wait. It is going to be a fun ride. Let’s do something epic tonight. Open queue, so hit me with any questions you have.
I don’t think the Lakers give Byron Scott the boot after the season. Why would they? In many ways they hired him to captain this rebuilding project. No one in that organization realistically thought the franchise was contending this season, or next for that matter. We can debate his X’s and O’s all day, for sure, but name a coach that could coax 40 wins out of this roster?
We’ll also get more chats out there for the Hoop Freaks! Thanks for rocking with us.
  2. Philip Fletcher

How much will Martin really help the Spurs?
    • Lang Greene

Let’s see … Kevin Martin is a proven double-digit scorer with plenty of tread left on his tires. I’d be surprised to see him getting 15-20 minutes in the rotation but he is great depth addition and provides a coach like Popovich plenty of flexibility for any situation that may arise. To win a championship you need guys who are fearless and aren’t afraid of the big moment … even if they are a bit past their prime. For instance, remember Mike Miller in Miami coming up huge in the NBA Finals a few years ago? With Manu Ginobili on his last legs and Danny Green struggling with his shot ALL season, why not take a chance in a guy like Kevin Martin?
  3. Allan

What’s good sir? How do you think the Hawks will fare in this years playoffs? It seems to me like they’re peaking at the right time. Also, Do you think that they will move Teague this summer? I think Horford resigns with Atlanta. Check out House of Cards on Netflix. Frank Underwood is a beast!
    • Lang Greene

What’s up my dude? Good to hear from you …
I think the Hawks have a legitimate chance to get back to the Eastern Conference Finals. But if you told me they lost in the first round in six games, I wouldn’t blink. That’s the nature of this team … capable of beating anyone, but capable of putting up duds. Been like this for years.
I am up on House of Cards … I have a few more episodes remaining in season four. Very good show.
  4. Rasuel

Are dominique wilkins geoege geewin and cheis paul ,big losers. Empty stats never made conference finals
    • Lang Greene

Man, how old are you? I guess you are purposely trolling me, but against better judgement I will answer this …
For starters, Dominique and “The Iceman” are already in the Hall of Fame. Those dudes are two of the most prolific scorers of all-time. They would put 20 up on the board in any era, against any defense.
As for Chris Paul, he will be a first ballot Hall of Famer when the time comes. One of the best floor generals in my lifetime. Excluding no one. Period. Yeah, these guys don’t have rings but their individual greatness cannot be taken away from them. There are plenty of role players with multiple rings … everyone can’t win one. Life. Is. Not. Fair.
  5. Matt

Realistically can the lakers get kd and cousins this summer? Maybe a trade of randle and the pick if they keep it
    • Lang Greene

Matt … you know how I roll … you know that I’m not the type of guy to kill someone’s dreams … but the Lakers are not getting DeMarcus Cousins for the package you outlined above. DeMarcus is the best center in basketball … worth more than that.
